Dr. Carroll D. Evans and Lorena R. North Evans built the Evans House in 1911. The couple helped lead in the development of the community. The building’s unique design artistically blends Renaissance, Greek, Colonial, and Spanish Colonial Revival styles. A 1915 “History of Platte County” describes the Evans House as “not only as the most beautiful home in Columbus, but one of the finest in the State.” On March 14, 1991, the Evans House won the honor of being placed in the National Register of Historic Places. This is the Third Edition from the series Memories of Columbus, NE that came out in 1994.
