Henry Block

1886
| 2523 11th Street
| Columbus, NE

The Italianate-styled Henry Block is the oldest standing business block in the Columbus Commercial Historic District. The doors and windows on the first floor have been altered and replaced but the original metal work above the openings is still intact. The second-story windows display segmental-arched stone hoods and sills. A metal cornice at the top of the building is pressed with the date “1886” and the name “Henry”.

Built by R.H. Henry in 1886, several proprietors initially sold dry goods and groceries, followed by a hatchery and vacancy before becoming Buller Leather Harness Shop. During the 1960s, it was the site of the El-Fran Cafe.

In 2015, it was restored and remodeled as a reception hall. The present owners who rent out the building for events have labored to bring the facility back to life and take residents to a time when 11th Street served as the Main Street of Columbus.

A wonderful place to hold your Graduation Party, Baby Shower, or Christmas Party!
