Help celebrate preserving our history

May is Platte County Historic Preservation Month

At the March 26, 2024 meeting of the Platte County Board of Supervisors, May 2024 was proclaimed “Platte County Historic Preservation Month”.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation created Preservation Week in 1971 to highlight grassroots preservation efforts around the country. Fifty-three years later, Preservation Week has grown into an annual celebration observed across America. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has declared May 2024 as National Historic Preservation Month. Because historic preservation is relevant for all people in all walks of life, the Platte County Board of Supervisors along with the Platte County Historical Society is promoting “Platte County Historic Preservation Month”.

We do our best to preserve Platte County history every day, but it’s nice to have a month to officially celebrate preserving our history.
